OUR MISSION

What is UNA?

At UNA, We are passionately curious about the sensory connection between music and taste. Through collaboration with innovative chefs, we curate concerts that provide an exhilarating experience for both your palate and your ears. These events come to life in iconic restaurants and intimate venues that, like us, embrace the unexpected.

Our mission is simple: to create artistic and adventurous concerts that engage all of your senses simultaneously. UNA means ‘As One,’ and that’s exactly what we strive for – to bring people together through the power of musical and culinary exploration.

Meet the Team

Artists at heart

UNA stemmed from a love of finely crafted music and a passion for thinking beyond the bounds of the traditional concert experience. By combining their ideas and years of musical and culinary training, Hayden and Michail have been able to transform the meticulous attention to detail and abundant creativity required to be an artist into a thoughtfully crafted experience for their guests.

Attention to detail

The Specifics

Although the details of each event can vary, most UNA concerts feature four courses each paired with a piece or movement of classical chamber music . Between each course the audience is given around five minutes to discuss and mentally digest before moving onto the next pairing. The whole event usually lasts around 75 minutes.

Virtual Holiday Cookalong

Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of ballet from the comfort of your home with our exclusive Nutcracker Cookalong. Delivered right to your doorstep, our three-course dinner kit includes all the ingredients necessary to savor Tchaikovsky's masterpiece. We've also added a touch of festive holiday cheer, curated just for you. Indulge in the finest local artisanal goods from the Bay Area, while enjoying recorded performances by our favorite musicians and dancers. Although the ballet may be shut down for now, let us reimagine your holiday tradition with a delightful UNA twist.

For this event we've partnered with the creative team over at SF craft cocktail bar and restaurant Bergerac to bring you a secret underground dining experience with a Bohemian flare. Tickets are $145 and include a welcome cocktail to start off your evening, and a four course dining experience carefully paired with four chamber ensembles performing works by Cras, Schumann, Piazzolla, and Massenet.

Our doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first course will begin at 7:00 p.m. sharp. Seating will all be communal 8 tops. Please notify us if you are buying tickets with a group, and we will work to ensure you are at the same table. All corkage will be waived at the event however we will have a full bar available for purchase onsite.

Conversation with Michail Thompson and Hayden Victor

‍An evening of creatively paired food and music from the comfort of your own home. Follow along with us as we give you a unique insight into some of the gems of the classical music world through the power of food.‍

The Courses:

Side Slaw

A quick and simple side salad to start off the night. This won't be paired with music but will act as a nice introduction to the event.

Ingredients:

½ head green cabbage, thinly sliced

1 bunch radishes, thinly sliced

1 large carrot peeled into ribbons

~4 Tbsp olive oil

~4 Tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider or whatever you have)

1 lime

Sesame seeds

Salt

Pepper

Recipe:

For this simple slaw, begin by thinly slicing the cabbage and radishes with a sharp knife or mandolin. Then, use a vegetable peeler to peel long thin ribbons of carrot. Add all of your sliced veg into a large bowl and drizzle in the olive oil, rice vinegar, and the juice of one lime. Sprinkle a generous amount of sesame seeds over top and season with salt and pepper. Using your hands or a wooden spoon, massage the slaw to fully incorporate the ingredients and break down the cabbage a little bit. Full disclosure, I’ve added approximate amounts to the ingredients list here but i never measure this out carefully. Use your best judgement and taste as you go!

Hearty Chicken Soup x Dvorak's "American Suite"

In this course we'll dive into the music of Dvorak, shining a light on his life, his music, and the flavors in his music that pair perfectly with UNA's chicken soup. More info on this pairing can be found in the relevant pairing page linked below.

Sun Worshiper x Faure's First Piano Quartet Mvt. III

We were really fortunate to have Professor Alex Stalarow set up a really interesting tasting adventure which uses a Rhone Valley GSM to experiment with Faure's First Piano Quartet. We'll learn about this piece and then explore the third movement using either the wine he suggested (Sun Worshiper) or any Rhone Valley GSM you can find. Feel free to read about the pairing using the link below, but keep in mind that we will only be listening to the third movement and drinking the Rhone.
